Illinois Turkey Hunting
It’s not uncommon to hear ten different birds on a typical morning turkey hunt at Silver Creek. Turkey hunting is regulated at Silver Creek to maintain sufficient numbers, and allow turkeys to reach full maturity. Last year our biggest bird weighed in at 24 pounds, and sported an 11-inch beard with 1.5-inch spurs! In addition, due to the low hunting pressure our turkey hunting plots receive, birds call nicely, and are less nervous than the turkeys on many hunting reserves.
The flat land and rolling hills of Silver Creek, covered in hardwood forests, creek bottoms, and crop plots make for excellent turkey habitat. That, coupled with our high turkey populations, make bagging a turkey almost a certainty.
Turkey hunts at Silver Creek are guided by one of our expert turkey hunters. We guarantee that you’ll get into turkeys, and at least get a shot at a nice eastern tom!
Please note that you must draw for a turkey permit to be able to hunt on Silver Creek land. The first drawing for residents is December 2nd, and January 13th for non-residents. If you need assistance, we're happy to help you in getting a permit for our area.
A guided weekly spring turkey hunt at Silver Creek is $375. Lodging is available, if you're in need of a place to stay, or just want to spend some time away.
